The Rockefeller Way: The Family's Hidden 'Climate Change' Plan The following text is a summary of a full report by the Energy and Environmental Law Institute published in 2016. This informative report is brought to the attention of Global Research readers. CRG does not necessarily endorse the title or content of this report. What is important, however, is to recognize the role of the Rockefeller family – historically the architect of Big Oil – in supporting the climate change debate, as well as funding scientists, environmentalists and NGOs involved in grassroots activism against "Big Oil" and the fossil fuel industry.

First published in December 2016, this article is relevant to understanding the ongoing climate change debate, as well as The Green New Deal, largely controlled by the financial institution. The Rockefeller family also played a key role in The big proposal to restart the World Economic Forum.

“Since the 1980s, the Rockefeller Foundation has become a leading advocate of the global warming agenda. …
In their review of the Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Rockefeller Brothers Foundation boasts of being one of the first major global warming activists, citing its strong advocacy for both the formation in 1988 of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), as well as for the establishment in 1992 of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. The global climate debate is crucial. But who controls and FUNDS this debate?
There is an obvious contradictory relationship: while Big Oil is the target of global warming activism, Big Oil, through the Rockefeller family and the Rockefeller brothers' trusts, is generously funding the Global Climate Protest Movement. Ask yourself Why?
Relevant to "extreme weather events" and the current climate change debate.

The Rockefellers are perhaps the richest and most influential family in the history of the United States. For more than 100 years, they have shaped and directed America's economic, financial, political and public policy while amassing one of the largest family empires of the modern era.
Most Americans hold the billionaire philanthropists in high esteem, associating the name Rockefeller with "oil" and "capitalism." In reality, the Rockefellers intend to control almost every major institution in America, using philanthropy as a means of increasing their influence on the world stage under the guise of promoting various social causes. Their fervent opposition to the fossil fuel industry did John D. Rockefeller America's first billionaire, shows that the Rockefellers were not political ideologues. Instead they are mere opportunists who support political agendas convenient to enhance their influence in the global arena.
Through the Rockefeller network of family foundations, universities and institutions, as well as massive donations to other charities, they have gained unprecedented influence in health care, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, energy and the environment. Their highly complex integration of hedge funds, interlocking board positions, and non-profit organizations has guided public policy on these issues and provided them with a premonition of the emerging markets and access to the natural resources of the developing world.
From the beginning of their philanthropic endeavors, the Rockefellers used social causes to gain influence in political areas of their choice. Since the 1980s the reason for their choice is the climate change agenda (originally called global warming) . Their crusade to dismantle the fossil fuel industry in favor of renewable energy is well documented, from their involvement in major global climate treaties and organizations – the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change in 1992 to the Kyoto Protocol in 1997. – to spending hundreds of millions to advance the renewable energy industry. Through their Sustainable Development Agenda, the Rockefellers continue to promote their self-serving "clean energy" policies both within the federal government and among the general public.
As the most prolific benefactors of the climate activist movement, the Rockefellers' influence on the energy industry knows no bounds, as the family's goals permeate all federal and state energy policy, as well as international globalist social engineering treaties like Agenda 21. With immeasurable influence that accompanies mass wealth and power, the Rockefeller empire has proven to be an effective puppeteer in achieving its primary goal: the destruction of the fossil fuel industry in order to increase its influence over the energy sector.

On November 5, 2015 New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman (image right) launched an unprecedented investigation into ExxonMobil to determine whether the company defrauded investors by failing to disclose the risks climate change could have on its business.1 This came just weeks after the Energy Reporting Fellowship and environment at the Columbia Journalism School (CJS) accused Exxon of misleading the public through its Los Angeles Times article, "How Exxon Went from Leader to Climate Change Skeptic."2
Despite the raging debate over the impact of man-made climate change, left-wing politicians, lobbyists and, most notably, billionaires have declared it settled science, using the issue as a means to gain control of the energy arena. Research shows that Eric Schneiderman's legal investigation, as well as Columbia Journalism's negative portrayal of ExxonMobil, are neither objective nor independent. In fact, considerable evidence leads to the premise that both the Columbia Journalism School's allegations against ExxonMobil and Eric Schneiderman's judicial investigation into the oil giant were not only funded but orchestrated by the Rockefeller family.
Notably, Rockefeller funded the demonization of the oil company from the Columbia Journalism School's Energy and Environmental Reporting Fellowship Project.3 However, both the Schneiderman investigation and the Columbia Journalism School publications were years in the making.
The Rockefeller Family Foundation hosted and facilitated two closed-door meetings with prominent climate activists – one in 2012 and one in January 2016. The leaked emails show that the main issue at both meetings was how best to to bring down the fossil fuel industry.4 In addition to key leaders of the Rockefeller Foundations, both summits included major players in the climate movement such as: Matt Paua (attorney at the Center for International Environmental Law), Sharon Eubanks (director of the Department of Justice's tobacco litigation in 1990 and a prominent anti-Exxon activist), representatives of Greenpeace and Carol Moffittof the Climate Accountability Institute.5 During the two summits, Eric Schneiderman was considered the possible catalyst to lead the legal investigation, while ExxonMobil was repeatedly mentioned as a possible target.
Schneiderman's fiery outspokenness against "climate deniers" and public call for policies favoring increased use of renewable energy made him a perfect and willing candidate.6 When announcing his crusade against Exxon, Schneiderman cited studies from Rockefeller-funded publications Inside Climate News and the Columbia Exxon School of Journalism reported.7 Significantly, many members of the Rockefeller family had long urged Schneiderman to investigate the oil company.
However, as evidenced by the report on the 2012 La Jolla meeting hosted by Rockefeller, family and climate activists needed a well-known, respected and objectively perceived media to push the public narrative. Although not disclosed in the meeting documentation, it appears they found one at the Columbia School of Journalism. Although perhaps the most prestigious journalism school in the country, the Columbia School of Journalism is not only the beneficiary of millions in Rockefeller donations, it is made up almost entirely of professors closely associated with the green movement.

In 2013, a year after the plan was drawn up, the climate alarmist and author of a well-known book condemning ExxonMobil, Steve Cole , was appointed dean of the Columbia School of Journalism.
Not surprisingly, Kohl spearheaded the school's energy and environmental reporting scholarship project that tarnished Exxon. Kohl is closely related to the Rockefeller family, having previously chaired the climate change-supporting New America Foundation, which has received significant funding from the family. These revelations suggest that the Rockefellers used their influence over both the Columbia School of Journalism and Steve Kohl to place Kohl in the dean's seat, giving him the platform to do what he had done willingly and enthusiastically once before: go public and criticize ExxonMobil overall.
Along with Coll, as a bastion of climate activists, the Columbia Journalism School was likely an eager participant in the conspiracy to smear Exxon. At least seven CJS professors are directly linked to billionaire green activist George Soros, receiving either awards or significant sums of money from the socialist philanthropist. Additionally, several CJS alumni board members are prominent climate change advocates, including Scott Dodd and Thomas Watkins.
This report suggests that the attack on ExxonMobil was neither the idea of Eric Schneiderman nor the Columbia School of Journalism. Instead, the Rockefellers, with the help of other billionaires and prominent climate activists, carefully orchestrated both the legal and media investigations of ExxonMobil in an effort to achieve their goal of bringing down the fossil fuel industry in order to gain control of the energy sector.
